Located along Gulshan-Tejgaon Link Road, the Teach for Bangladesh (TFB) headquarters by Studio Dhaka reflects the essence of Bangladeshi design—light-filled, airy, and rooted in natural materials. The design brief sought a minimalist, cost-effective solution aligned with TFB’s mission as a donor-based non-profit organization.
Studio Dhaka embraced simplicity through locally sourced materials—gas-burnt bricks, corrugated CI and plastic sheets, mild steel frames, and cement-finished floors. “We wanted environment-friendly materials over expensive ones,” notes Principal Architect Muhammad Moniruzzaman. The result is a structure of humble elegance, grounded in resource-conscious construction and contextual sensitivity.

Energy efficiency and comfort shaped the spatial layout. Pods are arranged along an open-air circulation spine, shaded by existing trees that moderate temperature and light. Each pod connects to a small courtyard, ensuring natural ventilation and creating tranquil pockets that serve as communal breathing spaces. A layered roof system—translucent plastic beneath CI sheeting—further reduces heat gain while maximizing daylight. Custom steel trusses add structural lightness, and niches in the brick façade encourage nesting birds, merging built and natural environments.
Inside, exposed brick, concrete ceilings, and wooden furniture create a warm, minimalist atmosphere. The office includes an amphitheatre and outdoor lecture space to foster interaction and collaboration.
